After spending 10 hours in Los Angeles Airport, 4 hours in San Diego, and 2 hours in Chicago Airport, I eventually made it to LaGuardia Airport in New York.

Then after saying, “Fuck it, I’ve travelled long enough… Let’s skip the subway and take a Lyft,” and arriving at the hotel to discover my family is not in the lobby like they said they were, which meant I was in the wrong hotel despite the fact it had the same name. AND THEN FINALLY, after heading to the subway where the ticket machine ate my credit card upon purchasing a ticket and finally, finally walking to the correct hotel… New York, I have arrived!

Things I learned from this experience:

  1. Travel light. You don’t need a check-in bag because you never know what will happen! I checked a bag this trip, which made the above situation more complicated and frustrating than it needed to be…
  2. If you’re flying to New York… Fly to Newark. Although some people *ahem* Laila *ahem* might not agree with me on this one, Newark is infinitely better IMHO.
  3. Life’s easier when you laugh.

Now here are some pictures!

June 22, 2018: Oh, did I mention my family and I drove to Boston to visit my other cousin for a day? ’Cause we did and had some bomb lobster at Boston & Maine Fish Company!
June 22, 2018: Nick on the left playing chess with a guy he met at Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
(Left) June 22, 2018: Me rubbing the lucky shoe at Harvard University. (Right) June 23, 2018: My aunt, uncle, Natasha, and I at Columbia University.
June 24, 2018: Hanging outside the Oculus building in New York, which really is just a fancy mall with cool architecture.
June 24, 2018: Outside of the Oculus building they were adding to The Mural Project. I’m not sure which artist or artists this piece is by, but let me know if you know! I would love to send a few photos to them.
June 24, 2018: At Ground Zero 9/11 Memorial. As a tribute, the memorial places a white rose upon victim’s names on their birthdates.
June 24, 2018: Being basic by the Brooklyn Bridge with my brother, Bahari. 💁
June 24, 2018: At the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum.
June 24, 2018: The Color Walk by Color Factory outside of the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum!
June 24, 2018: The Guggenheim Museum. We actually went inside the museum on June 21, 2018 where they had an exhibit by Swiss sculptor, Alberto Giacometti.
June 24, 2018: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
June 24, 2018: Inside The Met.
June 24, 2018: To me, this is the quintessential “Summer in New York” picture — tourists, taxis, and high rises. This was taken outside of The Met.
